Consider retaining an Immigration attorney to begin the process for obtaining the legal right to stay in this Country after your current visa expires. If you are comfortable with dealing with the Federal Government you can buy a Number of DIY books on the steps and forms required. My favorite DIY publisher is NOLO PRESS. I have seen their book on obtaining citizenship status changes. Again, if you are busy or the process appears intimidating, I would estimate an Ill. Attorney charging about $1,000 plus filing fees to complete your paperwork. DANGER – DANGER- Do not leave this country until after you have secured your new legal status or you may be prohibited from returning until this is resolved.
