Most of the participating UK Higher Education Institutions are supporting Open Access to their theses and so digitisation will be carried out at no cost to researchers in most cases. In the case of an e-thesis which is already on the service researchers will be able to download to the desktop immediately. In the case of a thesis which is not yet digitised researchers will be able to order it for digitisation, the system will ask the institution to send the paper thesis to us where it will be digitised and researchers will be notified when the thesis is available for download. However, there are a small number of institutions who may not pay for digitisation and in this case, if your users really want the thesis, they will need to make arrangements to pay. The cost for digitization, on the rare occasions when it is necessary to cover the costs, will be thirty five pounds per thesis plus Value Added Tax.
