Is there a change in sexual desire after menopause?
Yes. It does happen. It can be increased or decreased. Most likely to decrease. Sexual desire usually decreases with the hormonal loss. Women feel less aroused and less responsive to touch and emotions for sex. Moreover there is less blood flow to the vagina which leads to less lubrication and less sensations during intercourse. Some women even complain of having painful intercourses. The reason is vaginal atrophy and less lubrication in the vaginal canal. On the other hand few women enjoy having sex more than before. They have no fears and anxiety relating pregnancies. They need not to worry about safe sex and other precaution as they are no more fertile.
