Is there a chance that black holes can creat new star nurseries?

0

Cold gas and dust – lots of gas and dust at a few tens of degree Kelvin – is needed for star nurseries. It is assumed that black holes are left-overs from very massive stars. Temperatures around black holes are usually high because of the friction as material falls into the black hole. So it is not looking good for star formation directly around black holes: Temperature would have to drop dramatically before star formation becomes feasible close to a black hole. However, the explosion that leads to a black hole can send out shockwaves compressing gas and dust in adjacent regions and thereby initiating star formation. When black holes form, they may create star nurseries in their wake – however most likely not close to the resulting black holes itself.
