There is no particular way to start up a Riding Club.  You and a few friends can start to meet together for rides together at first, and then decide if you would like to take it a step further by setting up by-laws for your club, and eventually incorporating it if you decide you would ilke to run it as a non-profit organization.

To set up any kind of club, you should consider the best way to get the news out to the people who will share your interest and make sure you put your advertisting there.  To help bring the people into your club that you are seeking, be sure to be truthful in your advertising.  For instance, if you’re not looking for people who ride horses, then don’t use a general "riding club" moniker, but rather post your flyers saying, "Come join our Motorcycle Enthusiastics Riding Club" or "Join our Mountain Bike Riding Club".  Being specific will help draw the people that will stay with your membership.

Also, check with local law enforcement and business licensing offices to check for any particular laws or codes that might govern the more formal things you would like to set up regarding your club.  An example would be, if you decide to do a fundraiser for a charitable organization, and you all want to do a poker run which involves many stops around your city, then you need to know what city and traffic ordinances are set forth about doing that.

Collecting dues and keeping financial records can always benefit from contacting the IRS, the state tax office, and your local Board of Equalization to see what you need to do to get everything reported correctly.

After everything has been checked and double checked, you may want to keep your Riding Club an informal "meet and greet" between friends, but on the other hand you may want to go bigger and better with a Riding Club that fulfills everyone’s dreams!
