Question: I think there’s a bug in your version of the windchill applet on the web site.. or perhaps I misunderstood the windchill equation? The problem only appears if you switch to Celsius for the temperature. Then you seem to get an incorrect value for the windchill index. This doesn’t happen when you switch to from mph to kph. Am I correct that there is a bug in your applet, or have I done something wrong in my program? For example, set the values of speed & temp to maximum using mph & fahr. You get an initial value of 89 for the index. Then switch units to celsius. You then get a value of 31. Answer: That is not a bug. When you switch to C, the computed windchill index is converted to deg C. 89 F is 31 C.
