Is there a big difference between olden days children matched against modern days children?
Those are 2 extreme parenting styles. I think something in the middle is something that should be strived for and it will vary because kids vary. Some kids need more discipline and others need less for example. I think in general today’s kids don’t respect themselve and don’t respect others because it’s not something that has really been emphasized with them or told why and you have to do it. I do not like most of today’s teenagers. They are just nasty, in general. There are some great teens out there and I wish they could be more of an example for other teenagers. It seems to be the whole woe is me and today’s teens are seemingly incapable of empathy and consideration for others. To some extent, I think it is behavior that is taught. If adults behave this way then that is what teens will learn. Thoughtfulness, paying attention, and making adjustments is the way to go. To strict a parenting style can cause rebelliousness.
