Is their an environmental advantage to tankless water heaters?

Not really, at least being tankless all by itself. Both tank type and tank less waterheater are nearly 100% recyclable. I have never given a tank water heater to any landfill. They have always been recycled. The higher efficient a heater is the more “Green” it is, but tank type waterheater can be every bit as efficient as tank less. Changing out your old minimum efficient water heater with a new high efficiency unit, tank type or tank less, is an environmental move in the right direction.
