Is the “y” used in cases of preoperatively treated (by hormones, antihormones or chemotherapeutics) prostate carcinomas?
The “y” can apply to all cases that are treated with any recognized antitumour therapy, e.g., hormones, antihormones, orchiectomy. It is easier than drawing a line among them. However, what does one do with a patient who has been on an antihormone (Tamoxifin) prophylactically and then develops breast carcinoma? That should be excluded as there was no tumour prior to the administration of the drug. 1.
