Today, Ben and Frank discuss whether the newly-announced Xbox 360 price drop is a sign of desperation or boldness on the part of Microsoft. Ben: So now the news is out: with the price cuts coming to the Xbox 360 line tomorrow, September 5, Microsoft will officially have the least expensive console on the market. You can now pick up an Xbox 360 Arcade model for $200, $50 less than the Wii. Of course, you’ll need to buy a hard drive for that console, and with Microsoft’s insane pricing for their proprietary drives you’ll quickly spend more than you would have with a Wii… but at least you’ll have next-generation graphics. These prices, as much as we like to mock the Arcade as an option, are pretty sweet. The Pro model is more than worth $300, and my 360 gets a ton of use, month after month.
