Out of the box, the Xbox 360 Core system is not backwards compatible with original Xbox games. Backwards compatibility for the Xbox 360 requires a software emulator to be installed, which in turn requires a hard drive. The Core system does not come with a hard drive out of the box. You can purchase and install a hard drive for the Core system.
