Is the Wood Burning Advisory (Red, Yellow, Green Days) the same as the Open Burning Advisory?
No. The Wood Burning Advisory is only for solid fuel burning devices (woodstoves, fireplaces, etc.). The Green, Yellow, and Red days of the Wood Burning Advisory coorespond to levels of particulate matter in the air. Burning in solid fuel devices is restricted on Yellow and Red days. It is based on the predicted afternoon ventilation index (see definition above) and fire danger risks (e.g., high winds).
