Is the WET™ Reverb a spring emulation?
No. WET™ Reverb does not emulate, simulate, model, or imitate other reverbs—it does it’s own thing. I recently found the source of confusion over why some people think the WET™ Reverb is a spring emulation, which it is not. Apparently, some people believe the term “wet” was coined to describe the characteristic sound of a spring reverb, particularly with its use in surf music. While this may be true—I don’t know—the term “wet” has since taken on a broader meaning to describe the effect level of reverberation in general. I have even heard it used in reference to non-reverb effects (delay, etc.). I hear from some people that the WET™ Reverb is the closest thing to a spring reverb they’ve ever heard. To me, it sounds nothing like a spring. But, hey, I guess everyone hears what they want to hear.
