Is the Welsh language issue divisive?
We don’t find it is. The department is very cosmopolitan in nature with many students from Wales , both Welsh-speaking and non Welsh-speaking, but with 70% from outside Wales – from the rest of the UK , from Europe , and beyond. It is certainly not necessary to speak Welsh to come here, but there are always plenty of opportunities to learn the language if one chooses to do so.
