Is the Weekly Standard Turning Against Palin?
The conservative magazine was one of the first to push Sarah Palin into the national stage, but now it may be sending a sign that it has grown tired of her antics. The Weekly Standard’s star writer Matt Labash reviews the former governor’s new reality show and declares that it’s all about “self-love,” gingerly agreeing with Karl Rove and others who suggest that Americans might think that “a certain level of gravitas” is expected from someone who wants to be president, and sharing a network schedule with shows like Ton of Love and Toddlers and Tiaras might not be the smartest way to go. Plus, it’s difficult to see how she can complain about her privacy being invaded when she invites cameras to record her family’s inner-workings. Still, the one undeniable characteristic about Palin is that she doesn’t hold back. “And good for Palin if she’s happy following her gut,” writes Labash. “Though there’s no compelling reason to suggest the rest of us should tag along behind.” Read original story
