Is the water safe to drink?
In the hotels and most restaurants, you will get purified water. I would not drink the water from a private home or condo, unless you know there is a purification system installed. The water here is very pure, but the distribution system is not so perfect. Buy bottled water. Why not be completely safe!
Yes. Water quality is monitored and controlled by the government water company. In some remote places there may be private wells that are not monitored. However, all tourist areas have monitored and treated water. Costa Ricans are aware of visitors’ worries and bottled water is readily available, if you prefer.
