Hello, 1) Many of the books and documents are very expensive to priceless artifacts and they can’t just give them to anyone off the streets to handle. 2) There are all sorts of conspiracy theories that the Vatican has not only that but the golden menorah taken by the Romans from the Temple during the fall of Jerusalem to a clandestine secret service keeping the monsters and demons at bay as shown in Van Helsing (mind you the Vatican came in the 1920’s, not the 1870’s ). Oh that menorah is really thought to be 10,000 feet down at the bottom of the Mediterranean. Ships carrying the pillage hit a nasty storm at sea whilst returning to Rome.
