Is the Vaccine available at the Health Department?

0

The health department has not yet scheduled any mass immunization or school based vaccination clinics. The PA Department of Health is making vaccine allocation decisions to registered and approved providers based on epidemiologic data and supply. While the Allegheny County Health Department has received a limited supply of the nasal-spray containing live attenuated virus, it is not a sufficient amount to begin planning mass immunization or school based clinics. Instead, this medication is being reserved for children age 5-9 without underlying medical conditions who present the department with a referral note from their physician. Some is also being allocated to smaller physician practices who have registered for less than the minimum amount of vaccine being shipped by the national distributer. Please call ahead to assure availability.
