Is the use of GPS (Global Positioning System) free?
Yes. Nokia Maps does not charge for the use of its map. It only charges for the realtime navigation feature. However, Assisted GPS (AGPS) uses the network Internet for faster lock-on. To disable the internet connection, for the N95, Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods > (remove checkmark for Assisted GPS).. Note that by disabling AGPS, GPS lock-on will take much longer (sometimes as much as 500% more, in my experience). Also, AGPS only uses a few Kb of data, resulting in a few cents per connection on most mobile networks.
