Is the University of New Mexico a good school to attend?
Hello! I am currently a senior at UNM (went to a community college for two years and this is my second year at UNM.) I think it is a very nice school. It’s big and there are tons of resources to help students. I love going to school here because it’s such a huge change from a smaller school. There are lots of pros and some cons that go along with any major college. They have a great student body that includes everyone in games, concerts, video games; there is something for everyone there, definitely. If you have any questions about anything – the best ways to go about the financial aid office, the SUB (where you can go to get different things to eat), which teachers are great (depending on your major, I can offer up some advice on tough or fun teachers) feel free to email me! But anyway, I think it’s a great school to attend and it would benefit you to come here!
US News ranks it as a third tier national university — which is not as bad as it sounds. It is certainly the best public university in New Mexico and a place where you can get a great education. If you are a resident of New Mexico — then the quality vs cost factor is in your favor. On the other hand — if you picked a state at random, you would probably have a 60-70% chance of picking a state that has at least one higher ranked public university and a very good chance of picking a state that has more than one better public university.
