The game is played in our Solar System in an asteroid belt that is between Earth and the Sun. The game will not constrain the player from moving in any direction, but he will be able to fly only if he has enough oxygen or fuel. And yes, we currently have one entire system effect: Solar Wind. In our engine it looks like fire coming from sun.
