Is the United States going the way of all other great impires like Rome and Greece?

The United States is not exactly an empire in the sense of the Roman Empire and others of the past. Until recently the U.S. had not been a perpetrator or warrior nation: annexing or conquering unwilling sovereign countries. The present situation in the world is such that for the U.S.A. to “fall” as did those ancient empires would doubtlessly require a war of global proportions; almost certainly such a conflict would involve nuclear destruction with the entire world in danger of extinction. Although the Islamic terrorists detest our country and will be planning and endeavoring to destroy us, they surely will be prevented from precipitating any sort of nation-wide catastrophe. All that being said, nothing is forever, and the United States one day will cease to exist, at least in its current form — hopefully, not in our lifetimes!
