Is the United States a cruise ship?
NO! Please don’t call her a “cruise ship”! She is an ocean liner! The construction is very different (“V” hull vs. flat bottom, for example) and their purpose differs, too. While the Big U did cruise for entertainment at times, she was designed to transport passengers across the ocean (run the “lines” between the continents). While we’re at it, she should never be called a “boat”, either! This is considered to be very disrespectful and many Captains shunned passengers complimenting them on their “fine boats”.
