Is the UK leading the field, as far as digital tv and radio is concerned across the world?
No, but UK broadcasters, including the BBC, are amongst the 200 members of the Digital Video Broadcasting project which includes all leading public and commercial broadcasting groups in Europe. DVB has already been influential in setting television operating standards in Europe, the US and Australia but has no legal status and cannot enforce decisions on broadcasters and manufacturers. However, a DVB standard is likely to influence national regulators wanting to ensure common systems for digital television.
