Is the Tube (London Underground) faster now than in 1990?

Your probably right, especially if you traveled on the Central line the other week. Around the early 1990s, London Transport (as it was called back then) withdrew its 1960 stock from the Central line and replaced them with the 1992 stock that we all know today. 1995 and 1996 stock can now be seen in use on the Northern and Jubilee lines, and is also alot faster than its predecessor. Later this year, the Victoria line will also be given brand new 2009 stock and 2010 will also see the new ‘S’ stock being delivered to the Metropolitan, Circle and District lines, which should hopefully speed them up somewhat. So yes, you probably did notice some difference. Most trains on the Underground network are built to do almost 60mph, but are usually limited to 45 – 55mph.

What is your question?
