Is the tree in Rockefeller Center smaller this year? ?

0

The tree last year was 84 feet tall and the tree this year is 72 feet tall so you are correct in your observation. The preferred size is 75 – 90 feet but the minimum is 65 feet tall and 35 feet wide. A smaller tree than that would only be considered as a future candidate. The trees are usually older than 50 years and almost always a Norway spruce which typically live from 80 to 100 years. A lot more information than you requested, right? I always hated to see those big, beautiful trees cut down to just spend a few weeks being admired. I think the tree this year is about 77 years old so I guess it was getting to the end of it’s life and will at least go out with honors. The owner’s deceased mother had said it would one day grace Rockefeller Center so that’s kind of nice.
