You would have to combine both lists I think. But you also have things like Madonna. Now, her last album was absolute cack and the shop I worked in had it all the time. That album went in straight at number one and had sold loads in the first week. People had not even heard the album or more than one song but rushed out to buy it purely on the fact that it’s Madonna. There are many albums like that where they were crap and done well purely on the previous success of the artist. U2, Discotheque is another example. Other things have to be taken in to account as well. Households that have similar music taste may only have one copy of an album, but there are three people in the house. Buying misplaced or broken albums you have already purchased. The change in technology – people may have the same album on different formats.
