Is the TFLX hardware unit a modem?
NO. The compact TFLX II hardware unit is actually a single-line voiceboard. It contains hardware for analog to digital sound conversion and touch tone detection. Although it connects to the telephone line, it is NOT, in any way, a modem. Unlike many voice mail/fax modem combinations that are on the market, TFLX uses hi-fidelity proprietary sound recording and NO LOSS file compression routines.
