Is the term mullato a racist term?
I have seen a lot of mixed race people use the term mullato but I have seen others say it is a derogatory term. I found this about the term mullato: “MULE and MULATTO/MULATO are derived from the word Mulawad which means MIXED. The mule animal that were at one time believed to not be able to breed as being born of 2 separate species and in many Spanish speaking countries “MULATO/MULATTO” means “hybrid, ” as that is also what a mule or any other “mixed” being is considered.” It is just one of those words I avoid because I do not like having people randomly climb down my throat and I never know who is going to be offended by it.
