Is the taxi test to easy?
Unfortunately the taxi test isn’t a statutory test & it’s at the discretion of the individual local authority whether they require their drivers to take any sort of test. The local authority can also decide what sort of test that should be & who should have to take it. Some local authorities just require new drivers to take the test, some insist that when renewing their cab licence they take a test & some authorities use it as a disciplinary measure. The DSA taxi test itself isn’t particularly difficult but plenty of them fail it on things that a learner should be able to do. Until all local authorities insist on taxi testing the situation won’t improve. The good news is that the number of councils who have signed up with the DSA is ever increasing, more come on board all the time.
