Is the tan produced by a sunbed any different from the tan produced by natural sunlight?

The tubes on the sunbed emit a small percentage of UVB and a larger percentage of UVA. This causes the skin to react in precisely the same way as it would to natural sunlight. In other words, it develops a tan and also it becomes slightly thicker. There is absolutely no difference between the tan you get from a sunbed and the tan you get from natural sunlight: the pigmentation process occurs in exactly the same way. There is no such thing as ‘sunbed brown’! The tan produced by the sunbed will also last just as long as the tan produced by natural sunlight.
