According to MCO P1700.24B and a Directive Memorandum from the Assistant Secretary of Defense, dated 30 April 2002, TAMP/TAP is mandatory for all service members who have been on active duty a minimum of 180 days and are within 1 year of separation or are within 2 years of retirement.
