Is the Sword in the Stone by T.H. White a good book for an 12 year old?

I’m in gifted too. I read Sword in the Stone of my own accord, but I found the language really hard to understand, and I didn’t really enjoy it. My parents didn’t even get it. It’s probably one of those books advertised for kids, but really is impossible for anyone to understand. Don’t let that turn you off of classics though. I’m a big Russian lit geek.
