Is the strobe optically fired or digitally fired?

0

The strobe is optically fired with a signal from the Olympus FL-14 external flash. We believe that optically fired strobes are more accurate and reliable than electrically fired strobes. Although we realize that this causes problems with current owners of electrically fired strobes, we still think we made the right decision. Olympus designed the new FL-14 flash because they couldn’t make an adapter that would use TTL metering with the E-P1 and any other Olympus flashes. If Olympus couldn’t design an adapter for their own system, we thought our small engineering team was unlikely to be successful.
