Is the story of Joseph in Genesis an example, illustration, or “type” of Christ in the New Testament?
Joseph is the 11th son of Jacob [ Rachel is his mother ], She was slow to have her sons and died when Benjamin was born, so Jacob was partial to the baby sons and the others became jealous, they sold Joseph when he was age 17, he was taken into Egypt and on false charges he spent 13 years in prison, then he was able to tell the king that his dream meant 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine, the king made Joseph governor. Joseph sons were born in the 7 years of plenty, but near the third famine year he had to be the savior of his family Gen.47:9,11,28; he was able to spend 17 years near his dad and to tell his brothers that it was God’s plan, all that happened to cause them to be saved, it was also here that by the time Moses is born 65 years after Joseph [ Gen.50:26 ]; they are in bondage after Gen.15:13,16 [ as foretold and Pharoah was having the male infants killed, but Moses was saved ]; through Exo.6:16-23, 26; the 4th generation and Exo.7:7; to Moses age 80, at Exo.12:37,40,41
