“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle is more a color and counting book for kids. He hatches from his egg, then on Monday eats 1 apple, on Tuesday he eats two pears… then on Sunday he eats an entire picnic. He has a stomach ache and spins a cocoon to take a nap and then emerges as a butterfly. It’s an excellent book for the 5 and under set, though it’s sure to remain a favorite long after that.
