Is the Stella adler studio of acting a good school?
I’ve had a horrible time with stella Adler Studio in NYC. I believe because they have a great reputation, some faculty members feel they can talk to students anyway they want. I watched two students mis-treated and the chair do nothing about it. There are ways to criticize in diplomatic ways, but many of the staff are power tripping. In fact I would say they don’t enjoy their work, there teaching because they are having a hard time finding acting jobs. With all the great acting training centre in NYC, Stella Adler should be the last to visit.
It is an excellent school. It handles some of the student from NYU and it’s day and evening conservatories are beyond reproach. The Adler technique is best for very intelligent actors, the people I’ve seen struggle are not always the brightest crayon in the box. I currently attend and have been to other schools and studied other techniques and I have found an amazing fit at Stella. It’s warm, welcoming, compassionate and very aware of making an impact on the world for the better. It’s a small school, but for the money you really can’t beat the education you will find there.
