Is the song, “Ring Of Fire”…?
June Carter wrote the song (and, as a birthday present to him, gave Merle Kilgore half songwriter credit for the song — probably as much to hide her true feelings as she was married to Rip Nix [Cave, June & Carl divorced in the mid-50s when he married Goldie Hill] at the time as a gesture toward Kilgore) about her affection for Johnny Cash. She was on tour with Cash as part of the Carter Family at the time. BTW, an interesting fact: right before he became involved with June, he made a serious attempt to get Rose Maddox to date him (they were on tour together). Rose turned him down (she was married, although unhappily, at the time), and June was his “rebound” — a very successful, long-lasting one!
