Is the solstice only occurring in the UK?
It is summer in Australia right now so they will be having a summer solstice soon – their longest day and shortest night. It depends which hemisphere you are in. The difference is caused by the fact that the earth’s axis is at an angle to the sun. The earth moves around the sun once each year. So, in June the northern hemisphere is pointing more towards the sun. In December, the southern hemisphere is pointing more towards the sun. Have a memorable solstice, whichever hemisphere you are in.
