Is the sequel about Erin in 8th grade or later?
The sequel is about Erin’s 8th grade year at Molly Brown Middle School. I won’t say anymore so you can enjoy reading it! Did anything in this book happen to you in 8th grade? Nope – thank goodness. But the feelings Erin experienced – wanting to be treated older, do things her friends get to do, having a boyfriend – all of that is from my middle school and high school years. I think most people feel that way. Are any of the characters based on people you know? Not really, though Serena is actually based on two or three boys who were mean to me in 5th-8th grade. They did get a little nicer as we got older. And I used names of people I know for some of the characters.
