Is The Secret Service Cutting Corners?
In his new book “Inside the President’s Secret Service”, author Ronald Kessler alleges mismanagement within the Secret Service. Kessler discussed his claims and the new challenges the agency faces with CBS News Political Director Steve Chaggaris on Monday’s edition of “Washington Unplugged.” After speaking with over 100 current and former Secret Service agents for the book, Kessler claims that the agency has cut corners in recent years, and he says that could endanger President Obama and Vice President Biden. Kessler mentioned one instance on “Washington Unplugged” that involved Vice President Biden throwing out the first pitch at the first game of the Baltimore Orioles’ 2009 season. The Secret Service did not screen any of the 40,000 fans in attendance.
