Is the Risas y Sonrisas program appropriate for pre-school age children?

0

The Songs CD, the Sign and Sing DVD (the teacher needs to learn the ASL for the songs prior to presenting them), the picture cards and some game ideas from the instructor’s manual are appropriate for this age group. Pre-school children respond well to music, lots of movement, games, group activities with visual aids, and very short stories with pictures and simple words they can repeat. In the Summer of 2010, we will offer a smaller program that will only include the Risas y Sonrisas age appropriate materials and activities for non-readers.

There are many components of the Complete Classroom Program that can easily be adapted for this age group. However, it would be too much material and investment if it is going to be used for pre-school alone. We recommend it if the school plans to also use it with higher grades. Otherwise, we recommend purchasing the Music CD, the Sign and Sing DVD and the Cognate Picture cards. Pre-school children respond well to music, games with movement, group activities with visual aids, and short stories with pictures and simple words they can act out and repeat.
