Is the reason the BNP got a seat in the European parliament because people are bored of politics?
The BNP total vote did increase from 808,000 to 940,000; although curiously, the only two regions in which it fell, NW England, and Yorkshire, were the only two where they had MEPs elected. While Griffin will be delighted with the personal exposure and the MEP wages and expenses it gives him, this is not the progress you’d expect “the fastest growing party” to make. It is a massive indictment of mainstream politics that even a small minority will consider voting for racists and criminals, rather than the main parties, and the three main parties desperately need to re-engage voters. Sheepy will of course point out that 30 million people did not vote – and they were all going to vote BNP, but they had to wait in for the gas man.
