Is the RDR effect reducing CII diploma pass rates?
Detailed below are the previous two years results for the diploma and advanced diploma exams. It is interesting to note that based on the average results across all exams there has been a 5% drop in the average diploma pass rate in 2008 but at the same time for the advanced diploma there has been a 3% increase. The CII has good monitoring systems to ensure standards are maintained plus the fact that the advanced diploma pass rates have increased we need to look at other reasons for this decline. One answer could lie in the RDR, many are returning to study after a gap of many years in order to meet the RDR level 4 qualification requirements so this is not a positive motivation. Understandably many candidates will therefore lack the required enthusiasm and the required commitment needed to pass first time. CII Diploma results 2008 pass rates (number passing/total sitting the exam) are below, 2007 pass rates are in brackets: J06 37% (43%) J03 40% (45%) J07 42% (45%) J02 43% (51%) J04 46%
