No. ORS 238A has no provision for the Police and Fire Unit Benefit, so OPSRP Pension Program members are not eligible to elect unit contributions. Please note the possible scenarios that determine whether a PERS member is still eligible to purchase P&F units. • The employee is a PERS Tier One or Tier Two member and has had unbroken employment in a Police or Fire position but has not previously participated in the P&F unit plan. This employee may elect to begin unit contributions at any time upon submitting a Notice of Unit Election form or may make the purchase at the time of retirement. • The employee is a PERS Tier One or Tier Two member in a P&F position, terminated employment and was subsequently rehired with the same or different PERS employer within six months of termination.
