Is the plot the same in “Madame Butterfly” and in “Miss Saigon”?
Maybe there is some similarity like an Asian woman falling in love with a Caucasian. In Madame Butterfly, it was a Japanese woman falling for an American. In Miss Saigon, it was a Vietnamese falling for an American. Then, the women were hospitality girls. Anyway, if the stories were in Philippine setting…there will be buckets of tears to fall because we Filipinos tend to emphasize the tearjerker part, one that often tug at every Filipino heart. Forget about the songs but never the scenes.
