Since 1978, she has been Curator of Photographs at the Utah State Historical Society since 1978. She attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, the University of Utah, graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in geography (1974), and earned an M.L.S. from Brigham Young University in 1977. She is the executive secretary for the Utah Committee for Geographic Names. She was the photograph editor for Utah, the Right Place: The Official Centennial History (Salt Lake City: Gibbs Smith, 1996).
