Is the petition only aimed at accountability for crimes related to war?
No. Its only qualification is that it specifies “serious violations of the Law”, to set aside debate about whether minor violations should be prosecuted. Signers may differ on how violations that are not clearly serious should be treated, but they are expressing a belief that U.S. Government officials are not above the Law, as a matter of principle.
