Is the PE provider’s course material current?
Pennsylvania updates its exam outlines and exam questions every year. Although the changes are relatively small (generally about 5% each year), study material that is two years old is missing approximately 10% of the material and questions that will be on the exam. This point is even more important when you consider that a candidate must score 70% or higher to pass their state exam and the average exam score on the combination life, accident and health is 69% and 67% for the combination property and casualty exam (2002, Prometric). Using dated material is one of the primary reasons candidates fail their state-licensing exam.
