Is “the passion of the christ” scary?
Scary isn’t the word for it, no. It’s difficult to watch, even if you’re not a devout christian, just because of the unrelenting and graphic violence towards a human being and the depiction of his suffering. On a psychological level, I suppose you could say it’s horrific and if you don’t like blood and gore, then this isn’t the film for you. For me, when I watched it, the Crucifixion itself came as a blessed relief from the violence that had preceded it – whether or not this is what Mel Gibson was trying to achieve I don’t know. The only thing about it that could be deemed scary on a ghostly or supernatural level is the depiction of Satan, which is a bit creepy. It is a powerful and emotive film which affected me for a while after I’d watched it and I’m not sure whether I’ll ever put myself through watching it again because it was a bit of an ordeal. It’s been about a year and a half since I saw it (I was 20), and I’ve had no desire to re-watch it in all that time. As you’re 15, I’d sa
